“LOOKING TO THE FUTURE: POST-STORM PLANNING” – 10TH ANNUAL DELAWARE COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMIT
Saturday, December 12, 2015 – 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Location:  Widener University, Kirkbride Building, 17th Street and Walnut Avenue, Chester PA 19013.
The 2015 Environmental Summit focuses on helping communities learn from the past to plan for the future – before the storm arrives. The program will also help municipalities to facilitate County hazard mitigation planning, address community concerns, and build on current resiliency efforts. Topics include: New FEMA Regulations, Flood Plain Management and Abandoned Properties, County Hazard Mitigation Planning, Climate & Sea Level Rise Projections & Maps Public Meeting. Philadelphia Mayor-elect Jim Kenney wants to hear about issues affecting our local community – environmental justice, flooding, short-dumping, education, economic opportunities. Public Meeting, free and open to all.

CRADLE OF BIRDING FESTIVAL
Saturday, September 20, 2014 – 7 AM to 3 PM

Location:  John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, 8601 Lindbergh Blvd., Philadelphia PA 19153.
All are invited to the 9th annual Cradle of Birding, Wildlife Conservation Festival, featuring trolley tours, bird & butterfly walks, activities, live animals, workshops, exhibitors, Photo Contest winners announced, and keynote speaker X.
FREE lunch provided by the Friends of Heinz Refuge.

“WILD in EASTWICK” – COMMUNITY NATURE WALK
Sunday, September 16, 2012 – 1 PM to 3 PM

Location:  John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, 8601 Lindbergh Blvd., Philadelphia PA 19153.
Eastwick residents are especially invited to a guided family-friendly nature walk around Heinz Refuge.  We’ll learn why the Refuge is truly an urban oasis for people and wildlife, and how it serves the Eastwick community in providing environmental education, recreational opportunities, outdoor exercise, floodwater mitigation, clean air and connections to nature.

EPA HOSTS “OPEN HOUSE” about  CLEARVIEW LANDFILL and FOLCROFT LANDFILL
Wednesday, September 19, 2012 – 6 PM to 9 PM

Location:  Eastwick Recreation Center, 80th Street and Mars Place, Philadelphia PA 19153.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hosts Open House with representatives from a variety of federal, state and local agencies on-hand to discuss concerns and answer questions.

HEALTH WALK AT HEINZ REFUGE

Location:  John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, 8601 Lindbergh Blvd., Philadelphia PA 19153.
Combine the indoor Eastwick Health Fair with an outdoor Health Walk at Heinz Refuge!
Join Refuge staff for a fresh-air walk around the lush grounds.
