Each year, Bread & Roses Tribute to Change initiative brings together donors, activists, and allies working for real change in the Philadelphia region. The theme for the 2015 Tribute to Change was Environmental Justice. Caring for the environment, our common home, concerns us all. Yet, mainstream environmental discourse excludes many of the communities who are the hardest hit. Pollution, toxic waste, sustainable energy, water, green space, and climate change can reinforce longstanding economic and racial disparities. The effects on families and communities are devastating.

BreadandRosesTributetoChangeThe annual celebration honors community leaders who have made significant contributions to movements for change. EFNC is pleased to be honored alongside other excellent activists in the Philadelphia region. This award recognizes our 3+ years of hard work and commitment to inform, engage and empower Eastwick residents and stakeholders about issues that impact the environmental, economic and social health of our community.

On October 1, 2015, at the American Museum of Jewish History, people from all around the Philadelphia region gathered to recognize and celebrate the Tribute to Change initiative, connecting people who are working to make real change in our communities. The fundraising event highlighted amazing stories, mingling old friends with new ones. All proceeds raised from the Tribute to Change were dedicated to Bread & Roses’ grants to local social justice groups and grassroots organizing campaigns.

Eastwick Friends & Neighbors Coalition (EFNC) is delighted to receive the Bread & Roses 2015 “Community Empowerment” award. We are grateful to all the friends, supporters, residents and stakeholders who have inspired, encouraged, and supported us. We especially thank and congratulate fellow honoree Amy Laura Cahn, for her wise counsel and leadership in helping develop our strategies and advance our principals!
